Go-Stop Scoring: Gwang, Tti, Pi and the Bak Penalties

Go-Stop scoring reference: points for gwang cards, ribbons and junk cards, the three 3-point ribbon sets and godori, how calling Go adds and multiplies, and the gwang-bak, pi-bak and go-bak penalty doublings.

Base points

Points come from four card families — gwang (brights), animals, ribbons and pi (junk). Each family starts scoring only past its threshold, then adds one point per extra card.

Calling Go: bonus then multiplier

At the target score (three points in the common three-player game) you either Stop and collect, or call Go. The first Go adds one point, the second adds two, and from the third Go onward the score doubles each time. The risk of calling Go is the go-bak below.

The three baks

Gwang-bak: the winner scored with brights and you hold none — you pay double. Pi-bak: the winner scored on junk and you hold too few (commonly under six; houses vary) — double again. Go-bak: you called Go, failed, and someone else won — you cover everyone’s losses alone. They stack, which is why Go-Stop bills explode.

Thresholds and multipliers vary by house, so align before dealing. Tallyo’s Go-Stop scorekeeper exposes gwang-bak, pi-bak and the Go multipliers as toggles — set them to your house rules and every round settles itself.
